the bag problem nobody talks about
You know the one. It looked perfect in the photo. Structured shoulders, clean hardware, that little bit of shine that made it feel special. Three weeks in, the corners had gone soft, the strap kept sliding off your shoulder at the worst possible moment, and the hardware had already dulled from nothing more than being carried.
Every woman we talked to had a version of this story. Not one dramatic bag failure, but a slow accumulation of small letdowns from things that were supposed to be everyday essentials. Somewhere along the way, "everyday" started meaning "disposable," and nobody seemed to mind.
We minded.
so we started with one thing
Most brands try to do everything at once and end up doing nothing particularly well. We picked the hardest, most personal category first: the bag a woman reaches for without thinking, day after day, season after season. Get that right, and everything else earns the right to follow. Get it wrong, and none of it matters.
That single decision, to go deep before we go wide, is the whole premise of ava greene.
marabel, our opening statement
Marabel is the first thing we built, and it says exactly what we wanted it to say: the everyday essential should not be a compromise. Every silhouette in the collection, leather and vegan leather both, was built around a woman who wants shape without stiffness and softness without shapelessness. Hardware that still looks right a year in, not just on day one.
Some pieces hold a crisp line, structured crossbodies and square-framed bags for the days that call for precision. Others move looser, shoulder bags and woven totes for the days that don't. What ties them together is restraint. Nothing shouts. Nothing needs to.
We did not build Marabel to win a season. We built it to be the collection you reach for after the season has already moved on to something else.
how far we'll go, and how we'll get there
A house has to start somewhere honest, and ours started with a bag. What comes after Marabel will grow the same way it did: slowly, deliberately, only into categories where we can hold ourselves to the same standard. We would rather stay small and considered than grow fast and forgettable.
